That online career coaching package was a complete waste of $800
I signed up for a 6 week career coaching program promising to land me a better job, but all they did was give me generic tips I could have found on Google. Has anyone else gotten burned by those expensive career services that sound too good to be true?

Wait, they actually charged you $800 for that? That's just insane - you can get the same kind of basic advice from a library book for free.

Honestly @the_thomas, I used to roll my eyes at people paying for stuff like that too. I figured you could just Google it or grab a book from the library and call it a day. But then my buddy paid a consultant to help him sort out his backyard drainage, and he saved himself three weekends of digging the wrong way. So now I get it, sometimes paying for the shortcut is worth it if you don't have the time or patience to do the legwork yourself. I still can't believe $800 though, that's a lot for advice you could probably get from a neighbor over a beer.

Bet you $800 @the_thomas that library book doesn't come with a guarantee or someone to yell at when you mess it up. At that price though, I'd expect them to at least throw in a free shovel or a six pack.
