Why does nobody talk about how one performance review comment can wreck your whole week?
Six months ago my manager put one line in my review: "needs to speak up more in meetings." I sat with that for two weeks feeling like garbage before I finally asked her what she meant. She said I nod along and never say my ideas out loud, so nobody knows what I'm working on. I started typing a quick note before every meeting with three things I could add, and I forced myself to say at least one of them out loud. Last month she put in my review that I'm one of the clearest voices on the team. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt like a punch but ended up being super useful?
