A trim guy in Portland told me he hangs crown with a 22.5 degree bevel on both sides, and it works
Honestly I always cut crown nested in the chops like my old boss showed me, and my corners still gap sometimes. Last week I was on a kitchen job in Portland and the trim guy there said he just lays it flat and bevels both pieces at 22.5 with the spring angle off. I tried it on a scrap piece at home and the corner closed up tight on the first try, which never happens for me. Has anyone else switched to flat cutting crown, and do you keep that 22.5 for 38 degree stock too or does it change?
