Glue choice for exterior stairs: Titebond III or PL Premium?
I was redoing the treads on a porch in Portland last month and had to pick between Titebond III and PL Premium for the stringer glue-up. I went with the PL because it fills bigger gaps and handles the moisture here better, but the squeeze-out was a pain to sand down. Anyone else have a preference when the job has to survive a wet winter?
Is it just me, or does every outdoor project come down to picking your battles? I mean, PL Premium is awesome for filling those cracks and holding up in the rain, but yeah, that squeeze out is like concrete once it sets. I noticed the same thing with caulk and spray foam, the stuff that works the hardest is always the messiest to clean up. Portland winters are no joke, so I get why you went with the PL, but maybe next time you can tape off the seams before you glue up. Saves you the sanding headache later, and honestly, a little prep always beats a lot of elbow grease.
