Hit 500 board feet of walnut cut in a single day and my saw is not happy
I was pushing through a big custom table order and ran my old Makita 5000 through a full pallet of rough stock. The motor housing got so hot it started to smell like burnt plastic and the blade wobble is now visible. What's the fastest way to check if I warped the arbor shaft without pulling the whole saw apart?

Did you think that saw was a rental? Fastest check is to pull the blade and spin the arbor by hand. If it looks like a drunk hula hoop, you already know the answer. That burnt plastic smell is the saw's soul leaving its body. Might be time to shop for a new motor or a whole new saw.

Drunk hula hoop" from harper914 is how I finally learned to check mine.

Pull the blade and spin it like Harper914 said, but honestly that burnt smell means you cooked the bearings and probably bent the shaft.
