That new apprentice kept sanding across the grain on an oak table today
I walked over to the job site on Miller Street this morning and caught a kid burning through 80 grit going side to side on a $1200 piece of white oak. Left scratches so deep you could feel them with a fingernail. Took me 45 minutes with a card scraper to even fix it. Anyone else run into new guys who skip the basics on expensive wood?

Dude you see stuff like that ALL the time now. I had a guy last summer try to "fix" a cherry dining table with a belt sander and 36 grit, I swear he was trying to turn it into a hockey rink. He left these GIANT grooves like a truck drove over it, took me two full days with a cabinet scraper and a plane to get it flat. And the worst part is they always get DEFENSIVE when you try to help, like "I watched a YouTube video" well your YouTube video didn't teach you to look at the grain, buddy.
