Update: I used to hate using a marking knife for layout
An old guy at the lumberyard in Tacoma saw me using a pencil and said, 'That line's a quarter inch wide, kid. Your cut's already wrong.' I switched to a knife for a cabinet job last week and the joinery fit perfectly on the first try. Anyone have a favorite brand they'd recommend?

A quarter inch wide? Was he using a crayon? My pencil gets a fine line if I keep it sharp. How much difference does it really make on a saw cut anyway? Seems like one of those things woodworkers love to argue about forever.
