Vent: Spent 4 hours last Sunday fixing a miter saw fence that was off by 1/16th
Been using this saw for 3 years on the same job site in Portland. Noticed all my crown molding joints had tiny gaps. Checked the fence with a square and it was out. Took me all morning to shim and dial it back. Anyone else find these factory fences are always a little off right out of the box?

Jumped down the same rabbit hole with my Dewalt last month. It's like manufacturers figure we'll just adjust it ourselves so they don't bother getting it perfect from the factory. Same thing with my table saw fence, had to tweak that one too right after unboxing. Drives me nuts that all these tools claim to be ready to use but you gotta spend half a day fixing them first lol. Like you said, that 1/16th will drive you crazy on crown molding. Once you get it dialed in though, it's golden.

Wait, does the factory not even bother with a square on these things anymore? My old Hitachi was dead nuts from the box but this new one took two hours of messing with shims just like yours. The worst part is you can't even blame the shipping because it came in a crate strapped down tight. I swear they just slap the fence on and hope the end user will fix it. It's a damn racket.
