Bought a cheap power stretcher off Amazon, cost me double in the end
I picked up a PowerStretcher knockoff for $80 from some brand called ProCarpetTools. It snapped on my second job in Phoenix last month, the pole bent right where the handle meets. Had to buy a real one from the supply house for $220 after wasting a whole Saturday. Anyone else get burned on cheap tools like that?

Did that $80 one actually have a warranty or did the seller ghost you when it broke?

I've heard a couple stories about those cheap ones, people saying the seller just disappears when something goes wrong. Seems like a gamble either way.

The way some people talk about these tools you'd think welding a pole together was rocket science. A bent pole on a power stretcher is annoying but nine times out of ten you can just take a pipe and a vice and straighten the thing out in 20 minutes. Plenty of guys run cheap carpet tools for years without issue. The real problem is people not checking the tightness of the bolts and then blaming the tool when it fails. Maybe you just got a bad apple or overtightened it. Not every broken cheap tool is a conspiracy to ruin your Saturday.
