I finally switched from a knee kicker to a power stretcher on my last living room job
Used to just go with the knee kicker for everything, thinking I was saving time. But that 12x15 room in a Victorian house had so many doorways and corners, the power stretcher cut my redo time in half. Anyone else find power stretchers worth the extra setup?

Jumped into a similar situation about a year ago on a tricky room with weird angles and a bay window. The knee kicker just couldn't get the tightness I needed around the window, kept having to pull it back and re-stretch. Once I got the power stretcher set up properly, the carpet laid down way smoother and I didn't have to fight the wrinkles near the corners. Yeah, the power stretcher takes a few extra minutes to get the poles adjusted right, but it saved me at least two hours of rework on that job. Have you noticed a big difference in how long the carpet stays tight compared to the kicker?

Oh man, I gotta say though - a power stretcher doesn't actually save setup time once you factor in the pole adjustments and getting the head positioned right. It's more that it saves you from having to redo sections later because the tension is way more consistent.

You ever spend twenty minutes fighting a power stretcher only to realize you had the pole on the wrong setting? That happened to me last month on a bedroom job, felt like a complete idiot. But once I got it dialed in, the carpet laid so flat I didn't have to go back and hit it again. The kicker just can't give you that even pull across a wide room, especially if there's any padding that's thicker than usual. I'd rather mess with the adjustments upfront than spend the whole afternoon fixing puckers.
