I just read that a huge chunk of carpet waste still ends up in landfills, not recycling centers. Found it in a trade magazine article from last month.

Call your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore before you haul anything out. A lot of them take used carpet if its clean and in decent shape, or they know a local recycler who does. I had a whole house full of carpet last year and ended up dropping it at a place called CarpetCycle near me. Costs like 20 bucks a roll but beats paying tipping fees at the dump.

That's a crazy amount of carpet just getting dumped.

Ugh, it really is. You see this everywhere now, @jadej50. People just ditch stuff instead of fixing it or finding it a new home. It's not just carpet, it's furniture, appliances, all of it. We treat everything like it's disposable the second it's not perfect. Makes you wonder where it all even ends up.
