My big mistake with a cheap seam roller cost me a whole Saturday
I grabbed a $15 plastic seam roller from a discount bin last month thinking it was a steal. Used it on a big job in a living room and the handle snapped clean off after the third seam. Had to stop everything, drive 45 minutes to the nearest supply house, and buy a proper metal one for $40. Lost about 4 hours of work time and the client was not happy about the delay. Now I know why the pros say to never skimp on your basic hand tools. What's the one tool you guys learned the hard way NOT to buy cheap?

Ugh, my cheap putty knife taught me that lesson.

Remember that time I tried to use a butter knife for spackle? Total disaster. Left more grooves than I fixed.

Yeah, cheap tools always bite you. Learned that after a project like @rileygarcia's butter knife mess. Just spend the few extra bucks on a decent flexible knife, saves so much time fixing your own mistakes.
