Pro tip or old school: a guy in Tulsa paid me $80 to stretch a bedroom, then stood over me the whole time
He kept saying 'pull it tighter' while I was on the knee kicker, and when I asked other guys at the shop half said just take the money and half said walk off jobs like that, so where do you draw the line on a customer watching every move?
The whole "pull it tighter" thing while you're already on the kicker is just a guy who watched one YouTube video and thinks he knows the gig. But standing over you the entire time? That's not a crime, it's just annoying. I've had customers hover worse than that and I still got paid and went home. Half the trade would starve if we walked off every job where somebody breathed down our neck.
