Said I'd never touch glue down again, then a 20 year guy in Austin flipped my head
The guy who trained me always said glue down vinyl plank over concrete was a waste of time, and I believed it for about 5 years. Last week I helped a 20 year installer named Ray on a 1,400 sq ft job in Austin, and he showed me how he rolls the adhesive out with a 3/16 notch trowel and lets it flash for 20 minutes before laying anything down. He said "the glue ain't the problem, rushing the glue is," and watching his edges come out tight on a slab that was 40 years old made me feel dumb for arguing about it. Now I'm second guessing every time I've talked a customer into floating over a slab that was flat enough to glue. Any of you all made the switch on flat concrete, and how's it holding up after a few summers?
