Spent $300 on a fancy seam iron that barely worked
Bought that expensive digital seam iron from the big supplier thinking it would save me time, but it couldn't hold a steady temp and left burn marks on two jobs in a row. Anyone else had bad luck with those high-end irons or are there specific brands that actually deliver?

Spent $300 on a seam iron and it couldn't hold a temp. That's rough. Makes you wonder what the extra money actually gets you besides a fancy display. Been through enough tools to know paying more doesn't always mean better. Sometimes you're just buying a pretty box with the same internals as the $80 model.

Pretty box with the same internals as the $80 model, exactly what I was thinking. Mine had this fancy touchscreen that would glitch out every time I moved the cord a certain way. Bet it's just a $30 heating element wrapped in a plastic shell that cost $270 to design.
