DAE hit a cash milestone that made you rethink your whole system? Mine was $2,400 in one month
So I keep my spending cash in a labeled envelope system and back in March I counted out $2,400 that went out the door in 31 days, which was way more than I figured. The weird part is I went back through my little notebook and about $600 of that was stuff I would not have bought if I had to swipe a card, like the third trip to the hardware store in a week and a couple of drive thru runs after 9pm. On one hand that number scared me straight and I tightened up my weekly withdrawal to $450. On the other hand a buddy of mine says counting every dollar like that just makes you stressed and cheap and you should pull what you need and live a little. I honestly see both sides because the envelope thing keeps me honest but I catch myself skipping small stuff with friends just to keep the count clean. If you hit a number like that, did it make you crack down harder or loosen up? Curious which way most people here lean.
