DAE have a moment where you realized cash was costing you money and you never noticed?
I used to pull $200 out every Friday at the ATM on 7th and Lamar, and by Wednesday I was broke with nothing to show for it. Then a friend showed me my own bank app history, and I saw I was paying $3.50 in fees every time plus losing track of the cash. But now everything's on a card, and I keep wondering who's watching what I buy at the grocery store. So is ditching cash a win or are we just trading one problem for a bigger one?
The thing nobody talks about is that cash is the only payment method that doesn't leave a data trail, and that's worth something even if it costs you a few bucks in fees. When you pay with a card, you're not just buying groceries, you're building a profile that gets sold to insurers, employers, and whoever else wants it. I still pull cash for stuff I don't want logged, like booze or dumb late night purchases. The fee stings but at least nobody's building a file on my Saturday nights.
