Got hit with a $3.50 convenience fee at a coffee shop in Austin for using my card

I went to pay cash for a $4 drip coffee and the barista said they don't take cash anymore, only digital payments. So I had to use my card and got charged extra for the privilege of them controlling how I spend my own money, anyone else run into this cash-only ban at random spots?

Read something the other day about how cities like Philadelphia and San Francisco are actually starting to pass laws forcing places to accept cash. Seems like a total power move by businesses trying to squeeze every last nickel out of their customers.
