Hit 1,000 digital transactions last month and it made me look at fees differently

I checked my banking app for December and saw I made 1,003 debit and tap payments. That blew my mind. Back in 2022 when I lived in Columbus, I used cash for almost everything. Now if each of those transactions had a $0.50 fee from some third party, that adds up fast. Has anyone else looked at their total monthly digital payments and felt a little weird about the tracking?

i mean, i get where the concern is coming from but honestly i think the tracking thing might be a little overblown. yeah banks have records of your transactions but thats pretty standard stuff and has been for ages. idk, maybe its just me but i feel like the convenience of tapping my card or phone for everything outweighs the whole "they're watching me" worry. plus most places dont have those high fees on the consumer side - thats usually on the merchants end. like yeah be mindful of your spending but panicking over every swipe seems like extra stress for no reason.

Now if each of those transactions had a $0.50 fee" - are you actually seeing fees like that hit your account, or is that just a worst case scenario you're worried about?
