I tried to buy a single apple at a farmer's market in Portland and the vendor's card reader was down, so he just told me to Venmo him later... which I totally forgot to do for 3 days.
It made me realize how a cashless system relies entirely on both tech working and people remembering their digital promises, unlike the simple finality of handing over a dollar bill.

Oh man, I've done that! I set a phone reminder right away now, the second I walk away. It's the only way my brain works.

Totally feel that. My brain dumps info like a faulty hard drive, so I've got reminders for everything now. I once set a reminder to check if I set a reminder, which is a whole new level of sad. At this point my phone's calendar is basically my external brain, and the original one is just along for the ride.

Mine's basically a backup hard drive at this point.

@kai_webb91 the double reminder thing is a special kind of madness, I've definitely been there. But Olivia, are you straight up not using your brain for anything important these days? Like, do you remember what you ate yesterday or did your phone have to tell you? I ask because I'm starting to wonder if my memory is actually getting worse now that I outsource everything to my phone.
