I used to think the 'social credit' talk was just fearmongering until my friend in Shanghai couldn't book a train ticket after a minor fine.

He paid a parking ticket through a digital wallet app, and the system flagged him, blocking him from travel for a month, which convinced me that centralized control over spending is a real and immediate danger, not a distant theory. Has anyone else seen a small digital transaction lead to a surprisingly big consequence?

Does that digital wallet connect to a wider government database, or was it just the app's own penalty system? The line between corporate rules and state control seems blurry in these cases.

What about your digital medical records?

What if it's not just fines but medical data like @nancyjones said?

My doctor's office can't even email me a bill right, but sure, let's trust them with a national digital wallet.
