My dad said cash was a safety net and I argued with him for months
He kept telling me to keep a hundred bucks in my wallet for emergencies, but I thought it was old-fashioned. Then last winter, a big storm knocked out power in my whole town for two days. The card readers at the gas station and grocery store were down, and I couldn't buy anything. I had to borrow cash from him to get food and gas. It made me see his point about not putting all your eggs in one digital basket. How do you plan for stuff like that when everything goes electronic?

Man, your dad was totally right. Tech fails all the time, so a cash backup is just smart. Never go fully digital.

Honestly my card got declined once at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. I keep a twenty in my glove box now just in case.
