My dad told me to keep a cash emergency fund. I thought he was just old school.
He said to always have at least $300 in physical bills. I rolled my eyes, figured my cards and phone were enough. Then a storm knocked out power in my whole neighborhood for two days last fall. No ATMs, no card readers at the corner store. My dad's cash bought water, batteries, and food when no one else could pay. Changed my whole view on this cashless push. Anyone else have a backup plan that actually saved them?

Hold up, a radio saved you? I need to hear this story now. That sounds completely wild. Tell us what happened.
