Overheard a kid ask his mom what a checkbook was at the hardware store
I was in line at Ace Hardware on Elm Street last Saturday and this kid maybe 10 years old saw his mom pull out a checkbook and he asked if that was a board game. She laughed it off but it got me thinking how fast things have changed. I remember my dad writing checks for everything even at the grocery store in the 90s. Makes me wonder what my grandkids will think of paper money someday.

Man I still have my old checkbook from 2008 buried somewhere in my closet with like 3 checks left in it lmao. I remember being maybe 12 and my dad teaching me how to write a check at the gas station and I felt so grown up. Now I literally panic if I have to use cash because my brain is so used to tap and go with my phone. The kid asking if it was a board game is honestly hilarious but also kinda sad, makes me feel ancient.

Pretty sure my checkbook is in the same place as my pager, collecting dust.

Actually, pagers are still used by a lot of hospital staff and emergency crews today. My buddy's an EMT and says they're way more reliable than cell signal in some buildings.
