Pro tip: check your bank's offline payment limit before a trip

I got stuck in a small town in Vermont last month when their internet went down for a whole afternoon. My card kept getting declined everywhere because the payment network was offline, and I only had about five dollars in cash. It took me three hours of walking around to finally find an open ATM that still worked. Has anyone else been totally locked out like that during an outage?

That sounds like a nightmare. My cousin got stuck at a gas station once because their pump system crashed.

Yeah, pump crashes are the worst, I once had to push my car to the next station.

Pushing a car sounds rough. My old beater died at a pump once and I just sat there hoping the ground would swallow me whole. What's your record for longest gas station pity party?
