Question about a weird cash-only rule at a local diner
I tried to pay for my $12.75 breakfast at Lou's Diner last week with my phone, but the owner pointed at a sign that said 'Cash Only, No Exceptions' in faded letters. He said his card reader broke six months ago and he never fixed it because 'the bank knows too much already'. I had to wash dishes for twenty minutes to cover the bill while my friend took a video. Has anyone else run into a place that's gone totally off the grid like this?

Your museum piece wallet comment is why I keep a twenty tucked in my phone case now.

Actually, that was Leo's museum piece joke, not mine. Still, your phone case twenty is a solid backup plan. Never know when a place will turn out to be cash only.

Sounds like you got the full Lou's experience. My wallet is basically a museum piece at this point, so I'd have been scrubbing pans right next to you. Places like that make you wonder if they're hiding a gold mine in the back or just really hate modern life. At least you got a free story and clean dishes out of it.
