TIL my friend's bank flagged a $300 donation to a climate group as 'suspicious'.

He was trying to give money online and they froze his account for two days until he called. It made me wonder who gets to decide what counts as a normal purchase. Has your bank ever blocked a payment you thought was fine?

That's wild they flagged a climate donation. Makes you wonder if they'd block a donation to a political campaign they didn't like, you know? My bank once stopped a big payment to a furniture website I'd used before, which was just annoying. The whole "suspicious" label feels pretty arbitrary sometimes.

Yeah the "suspicious" label thing is so random. I had a payment to a wildlife charity get flagged last year, @blakestone. I just called my bank right away and told them it was me. They asked a couple questions to confirm my identity and then pushed it through. It's a pain but calling directly always works for me.

Yeah the "arbitrary" part is what gets me... like who decides what's suspicious? If they can block a climate donation like you said, or a wildlife thing like @pat_rivera mentioned, it really does make you question the whole system. It feels less about safety and more about them quietly steering where money can go. That's a way bigger deal than just a blocked furniture order.

Next they'll flag my coffee order and demand a full interrogation.
