Warning: my $18 week of bean and rice dinners actually went great until Thursday
I set a $18 food budget for last week after rent ate most of my check, and the first three days of black beans, rice and frozen spinach from the Save-A-Lot on 5th were honestly fine. Thursday I got cocky and tried to stretch a half bag of dried lentils into a stew with nothing but an onion and old bay, and it tasted like wet cardboard. What do you keep around to make plain bean meals taste decent without adding a bunch to the bill?
