Rant: My brand new induction burner died mid-service last Friday night

It just shut off with a flashing error code during the dinner rush and I had to finish 40 covers on a single gas burner, has anyone else had the newer models just fail without warning like that?

That flashing error code is the worst when you're in the weeds. Had the same thing happen with a brand new unit right as tickets were coming in hot. Some of these newer models have overheating sensors that trip way too easily if there's even a little bit of airflow blocked underneath. Ended up having to keep a box fan aimed at the vent on mine anytime it ran hard, which totally defeated the whole point of a clean induction setup.

Yeah and then you gotta clean the crud out of those vents every week or they just brick themselves anyway. Reminds me of the time I spent an hour digging lint out of a dryer vent only to find the real problem was a dead squirrel.

Wait, did that box fan trick actually help? I used to think induction was bulletproof, but hearing this changed my mind.
