TIL it takes about 600 gallons of water to clean a commercial kitchen hood filter

I was scrolling through this forum last night and saw someone mention a stat about water use in restaurant exhaust cleaning. Looked it up out of curiosity and found out that for a medium busy kitchen, you can go through 600 gallons just scrubbing those filters each month. That number just hit me. I work in a completely different trade but I respect the hustle. Has anyone here tried a water recirculation setup for their hood cleaning or is that too pricey for most places?

Bet that 600 gallons is mostly from the pre-rinse, not the scrub.

Honestly saw a guy at the hardware store once spraying down his driveway with a pressure washer for like 20 minutes straight before he even touched the soap. Just stood there blasting water at nothing.

that 600 gallon number is wild. i can barely commit to watering my one sad houseplant without forgetting for a week, never mind scrubbing filters like that.
