Hot take: I used to think a standard brush was fine for any flue until a job in a 1920s brick chimney in Portland showed me how wrong I was.
The old clay liner was so degraded that my usual 8-inch poly brush just pushed crumbled mortar down instead of cleaning it, so now I always carry a set of smaller, softer bristle heads for fragile historic work. Anyone else have a go-to tool for delicate old chimneys?

So what's your go-to soft brush brand?

Oh man, I just use whatever cheap ones are at the drugstore! My cat knocked my last good one into the toilet.

Ever think about how the brush handle shape affects your grip when it's wet? My hands are always slippery after washing my face and a cheap one just flies across the bathroom. That's a solid point from @hayden_craig95 about pets being a hazard, makes me wonder if a weighted base would help. I lost a good brush to my dog's tail, so maybe we need pet-proof design more than a certain brand.
