Hot take: Our local sweep guild closed its doors last year

It's sad to see traditions fade. We used to have apprentices learn from masters right here, but now it's all online courses and fewer jobs.

What happens when we lose all the skilled workers who know how to do things with their hands? It's not just about old ways for the sake of it, @the_leo. Having an apprentice right there with a master teaches problem solving you can't get from a video. You learn to adapt when things go wrong on the job. That kind of knowledge keeps our town running when real problems pop up. Closing the guild means we lose that local fix for good.

Good riddance to outdated ways.

I used to agree with you, but ivans31 makes a good point.

That guild closure means we lose real hands-on fixes though. Maybe outdated to you @the_leo, but that problem-solving keeps things working.
