Nearly set a house on fire before I realized my mistake with creosote logs

I used to think those chemical creosote logs were a substitute for actually scraping the chimney. Last winter after a small flare-up on a job in Austin, a senior sweep showed me the pile of crunchy creosote that still needed manual removal. Has anyone else trusted those logs too much and learned the hard way?

More money spent on toxic ash instead of a proper cleaning.

Ah man, just switch to a rubber scraper blade, it saves so much hassle with that sticky mess.

Those logs just give you more to scrape out later.
