Shoutout to the old timer in Eugene who showed me his trick for stubborn smoke shelves

Used a stiff bristle brush and a shop vac hose taped to a pole. Anyone got a better method for that awkward angle?

Honestly, that's a solid setup. I've used a long handled bottle brush before, the kind for car wash detailing. The flexible neck gets into the corners better than a stiff brush. Just gotta scrub and scoop the gunk out by hand after.

Tbh, that putty knife idea is genius. I'd take it one step further and use a cheap paint scraper with a razor blade. You can get them for like a dollar. The blade cuts through that baked-on grime way better than plastic. Just go slow so you don't scratch the finish. Then you can use the bottle brush after to clean up the dust.

Yeah, that bottle brush trick is good for the corners. What I do is take a cheap plastic putty knife and bend it in a vise to match the angle of the shelf. Tape that to an extension pole, and you can scrape all that crusty crap right into a pile. Then just vacuum it up. Saves your back from trying to cram your whole arm up there lol.
