The Tuesday that three flues in a row had raccoon nests in them

By the third one I was elbow deep in pine needles and raccoon droppings at 4 PM and I just sat on the roof for ten minutes asking myself if this is what I signed up for, has anyone else had a day where every job was the same nightmare?

The last time I had a day like that it was all clogged gutters. Every single call was "the water is backing up into the house." By the fourth one I was so covered in wet leaf slime I gave up on wiping it off and just let it crust over. Made the mistake of wearing my good boots that morning. Had to hose them off in the yard while the homeowner watched from the kitchen window like I was some kind of animal.

Oh man that's rough... but listen, the real question is did they at least offer you a towel or a cup of coffee? I've had people watch me from their window like I'm performing some kind of circus act and it always gets under my skin. You're out there literally keeping their house from flooding and they can't even open the door to say thanks. Did you ever figure out if that homeowner was just shy or if they were actually judging you for being dirty?

Are you saying the raccoons were all nesting in there at the same time like a weird animal convention, cause @patricia262 I feel your pain on the boots thing I had to throw mine away after a chimney job like that?
