Wasted $260 on a so-called pro brush kit that shed bristles on my first job

Spent $260 on a full brush kit from a trade show vendor in Columbus last spring, and half the bristles came out on my first job of the week. I had to stop, pick bristles out of a flue, and finish with my old worn set while the customer watched. Did I get a bad batch or is this just what happens with these off-brand kits?
