Moved to Chicago for a job that paid $52k, slept on an air mattress for 5 months
I moved from a small town in Indiana to a one bedroom in Logan Square back in 2019, and my first night there the heat didn't work so I slept in my coat on an air mattress with pots stacked around me because I had no furniture yet. I called my landlord about the heat 6 times that week and he kept saying he'd send someone, so I finally just bought a $40 space heater and ate the extra electric bill myself. How long did you wait before you stopped asking your landlord for stuff and just handled it on your own?
