Can we talk about how LCD screens killed the feel of old CRT monitors?

I was playing a retro DOS game on my modern flat screen last night and the pixels just looked way too sharp and clean. My old 15 inch CRT from 1995 had this soft glow that made everything feel right, like the game was alive. Anyone else miss that warm fuzzy look or am I just romanticizing it?

Ngl I think people get way too caught up in the nostalgia of CRT monitors. Sure they had that soft glow but you ever try to drag a 50 pound tube monitor across a desk? Not fun. Plus the flickering at lower refresh rates gives me a headache just thinking about it. Modern screens are crisper and cleaner and my eyes don't feel like they're going to fall out after an hour of gaming. You can keep your fuzzy warm glow, I'll take the sharp pixels and a screen I can actually move.

Brought home a free IBM CRT from a neighbor's garage sale once. Thing sat in my trunk for three days because I could not lift it out by myself. Finally had to ask my cousin to help, he laughed so hard he almost dropped it on his foot. Plugged it in and it made this weird humming noise that never stopped, even when it was off. Ended up giving it to a guy on Craigslist who wanted one for retro gaming. Never looked back.
