Found a $10 cassette deck fix that saved my 1987 Sony
My old deck kept eating tapes, and I was ready to junk it. Turned out the pinch roller just needed a wipe with rubbing alcohol and a drop of oil on the motor shaft, took 15 minutes and it plays perfectly now. Have any of you tried cleaning the capstan before replacing belts?

Wait till that oil creeps into the flywheel bearing, then you'll be replacing the whole transport.
