Just hit 1,024 items on my old Palm Pilot and it stopped syncing, is that a real limit?
I have been dumping grocery lists and phone numbers into a Handspring Visor from 1999 since my dad gave it to me in 2019, and the counter rolled over to 1,024 memos this morning. Now the HotSync cable gets halfway through and freezes at 68 percent, so I am poking around the old forums for a patch. Does anyone remember if Palm OS had a hard cap like that, or did I just fill up the 2MB of memory?
1,024 is exactly 2 to the 10th power, which is the kind of round number that shows up when software runs out of bits, not when you run out of memory. A 2MB Visor holds way more than a thousand short memos, so filling the storage probably isn't your problem. That freeze at 68 percent sounds more like a sync setting or a bad cable than a real cap. Have you tried just deleting one memo and seeing if it goes through? If one comes off and it syncs fine, you found your answer for free.
