Shoutout to my old Nokia 3310 for surviving a 4-foot drop into a puddle in 2003, still boots up today
I was crossing State Street during a downpour when it slipped out of my pocket and landed screen-down in a deep puddle. I fished it out, took the battery out, dried it with a towel, and it fired right up an hour later, meanwhile my 2022 smartphone cracked from a 2-foot fall onto carpet. Who else thinks the old brick phones were more durable than today's glass slabs, or is that just nostalgia talk?

Them old Nokias were built like tanks, no question. Dropped mine down a flight of stairs once and it just popped the battery cover off, snapped it back on and it was fine. Meanwhile the "tough" modern phones need a case, a screen protector, and even then one bad bump and you're looking at a $300 repair bill. That 3310 had the snake game and could probably survive a car running over it. We traded durability for thinness and cameras, but honestly I'd take a brick that never dies over a glass slab that needs a protector just to exist in my pocket.
