Thought I'd never use a flip phone again but a road trip changed my mind

I was driving from Chicago to St. Louis last month and my smartphone battery died 3 hours in. I had my old Motorola Razr in the glovebox for emergencies. That thing lasted the whole 5 hour drive with GPS running off a separate car charger. Now I keep it charged and use it as my backup for long trips. Anyone else keep a dumb phone around just in case?

And honestly the battery thing alone makes it worth it. I got a cheap Nokia from Walmart for like 30 bucks and it sits in my car with a car charger plugged in always. That thing can go weeks without needing a charge. On my last trip from Phoenix to Vegas my regular phone died twice and I just switched over to the Nokia for directions and calling. The best part is I don't feel the urge to check social media every 5 minutes when I'm using it.

Nokia 3310 doesn't have GPS though. Those old phones don't have maps or navigation at all. Just a fair warning if someone tries to use one for directions.

The Nokia 3310 I keep in my center console has been a lifesaver on multiple Colorado mountain trips where my iPhone just gave up. It feels good knowing I can still call for help without needing a charger every few hours.
