Bought those $50 'reusable' beeswax wraps and they were moldy within 2 weeks
I was trying to cut down on plastic wrap so I dropped $50 on a set of beeswax wraps from a popular eco brand. Followed the care instructions exactly, washed them with cool water and mild soap after each use. By day 10 I noticed little black spots on the edges of two wraps. By day 14 all six of them had mold growing in the creases. The company's website says they last a year but mine barely made it two weeks in my humid kitchen. Has anyone else had this problem or found a brand that actually holds up?

Putting them in the fridge between uses stopped the mold for me.

Did your friend try washing them with vinegar first? My buddy had the same issue and said a vinegar soak before first use fixed it for him.

my friend sarah had this exact problem with her reusable water bottle. she tried everything to get the mold out of the straw and cap. she finally did the vinegar soak thing and it worked but only for like a week. @roberts.leo the fridge trick is actually what she ended up doing long term. she just pops the whole bottle in there between uses and its been mold free for months now. i think the cold slows down whatever makes that black gunk grow.
