Checked my home energy report and saw my usage dropped 22% this year

I started unplugging a few things and being more careful with the thermostat, but I didn't expect that big of a drop. It really shows small changes can add up fast. Anyone else get surprised by their own numbers?

That's actually really cool to see the numbers back it up like that. I had a similar thing happen when I started running the dishwasher only when it was totally full. The bill wasn't huge before, but the drop was way more than I thought it would be. Makes you realize how much little stuff is just quietly sucking power all day lol. Good on you for sticking with it.

My buddy did that too @rowan_wells30, his power bill dropped a solid twenty bucks.

Wait, did you know some game consoles are some of the worst for standby power? I read that they can pull almost as much as a fridge if you leave them in instant-on mode. It's wild how the most convenient setting is also the biggest energy hog. I switched mine to energy saving and honestly don't even notice a difference when I turn it on. That's another one of those quiet drains that adds up fast.

Notice how it adds up everywhere, like how leaving chargers plugged in or that old fridge in the garage just hums along. My TV and cable box were on standby 24/7 until I put them on a power strip. @rowan_wells30 is right, it's all that quiet vampire drain. You start catching one thing, then you see it in ten other places, and suddenly your bill looks totally different.
