Drove past a solar farm for 2 years thinking it was a scam...

My neighbor installed panels back in 2019 and I kept telling him it was a waste, thought the whole thing was just tax credit marketing. Then our power bill hit $340 last July and I finally crunched the numbers on his setup, he hasn't paid more than $40 a month since. Drove 40 miles to the solar farm near Carson City to ask questions and the tech explained how net metering actually works. Still not fully sold on me doing it yet, but I definitely stopped rolling my eyes at those ads... anyone else have a moment where the cynic in you got proven wrong?

Net metering was the part that finally clicked for me too. Once you see the meter spin backwards it all makes a lot more sense. Still have trust issues but the math is hard to argue with.

Honestly @calebc40 you're right about the math being hard to argue with. Just keep an eye on your utility's fine print, some of them sneak in fees that eat into those savings.

My neighbor's bill doubled after they missed a buried fee in paragraph 12.
