Found a free way to cut my home energy bill by $40 a month just by changing when I do laundry

I live in a small apartment in Austin where the AC runs from April through October. Electric bill was hitting $180 in July and I was about to call it quits. Then my buddy who works at the utility company told me to check their website for time-of-use rates. Turns out if I shift my big stuff like laundry and dishwashing to after 8pm, I save like 40% on those hours. First month I did it my bill dropped to $140. Has anyone else tried shifting their schedule like this and actually seen it work?

Wait, $180 to $140 just from shifting your laundry time? Dude that's actually crazy if real, lol. I've heard of time-of-use plans but never seen the numbers that drastic before.

Wait, $40 a month just from doing laundry at night? That's wild. I've heard of those plans but never thought they'd save that much. I always figured it'd be like $10 or $15 tops. But dropping from $180 to $140 is legit, especially in Austin where the AC is basically a second job. Makes me wonder if my local utility has something similar or if it's just a Texas thing.
