Hot take: I stopped using my dryer for a month and my electric bill dropped $40
My dryer broke right after Christmas and I couldn't get a repair guy out for weeks. I started hanging everything on a rack in my spare room instead. I checked my bill from last month and it was $40 lower than the same time last year. Has anyone else found a simple appliance swap that cut their power use?

Blocking the lint sensor on mine made it run way longer than it needed to, costing way more than I realized. Grab a dryer vent cleaning brush and pull the lint trap out to vacuum behind it, that alone cut my dry time by like 15 minutes per load lol. If you switch to drying towels and jeans on a rack and only use the dryer for lighter stuff, you'll probably see another $10-15 drop too.

Guess your dryer was basically just burning money for fun.

Wait, are you saying it was actually broken the whole time? That's crazy, I just thought it was getting old.
