Hot take: My old job made us print everything, now we're paperless by default
I remember stacks of reports piling up on desks, all headed for the recycle bin after one read. These days, our whole team shares files online and uses tablets for meetings. Management pushed hard for this shift to cut waste and lower our office footprint. It's funny how something so basic feels like a big win now.

What if you only scanned the stuff you actually need to find again? I got ruthless and only digitized current project files, tax stuff, and warranties. Everything else went straight to the shredder. Naming files is the worst part, so I just use the date and a two-word description, like "2024-03-taxes" or "kitchen-paint-color." It keeps the digital pile from getting out of hand right away.

Watch me scan a thousand receipts from 2012 just so my computer can ask me for a password I forgot to open the PDF. Honestly this just trades a pile of paper for a digital junk folder I'll also ignore forever. Now I have to come up with a filing system and name all the files something useful, which is its own special hell. The clutter just moves from my desk to my desktop and I hate it.

Yeah and then you've got kaigibson's advice haunting you from the digital grave of good intentions. My desktop looks like a hoarder's house fire now.
