Wait, you cut your TRASH in HALF? That's insane. I tried composting but it just made a weird wet pile that smelled bad. How do you not get fruit flies everywhere? My kitchen bin was a tiny airport for them.

Man, fruit flies are the WORST. But you gotta bury your food scraps under a layer of browns like leaves or shredded paper. That's the secret, not just tossing veggie peels on top. Also, get a countertop bin with a charcoal filter lid, it cuts the smell big time. Your pile was probably too wet too, needs more dry stuff like cardboard mixed in. Composting is less work than people think once you get the mix right.
