Just dropped $250 on a smart thermostat that paid for itself in 3 months
I installed a Nest knockoff in my Chicago apartment back in January and my heating bill went from $180 to $110 a month. Has anyone else seen big savings from a simple thermostat swap like this?

Wait, $70 less a month on your heating bill just from swapping the thermostat? That's wild. I've seen them save people maybe $20 or $30, but nearly cutting the bill in half sounds like magic.

Yeah it's wild how small changes can add up way more than you'd expect.

My brother lives in an old drafty house and his bill dropped $65 first month. It's not just the thermostat itself though. You gotta actually program it right and use the schedules. Most people just set it and forget it. If you're actually letting the house get cold when you're asleep or at work it adds up fast.
